An exceptional junior player with his hometown Sudbury Wolves, who have since retired his sweater, Ron Duguay was drafted by the New York Rangers and made the leap directly to the NHL. Ron was part of an exciting and entertaining team in New York. In fact, in 1979, Ron, John Davidson, Phil Esposito, Pat Hickey and Dave Maloney recorded a song written by Alan Thicke titled ‘Hockey Sock Rock,’ with proceeds going to charity. Through 864 regular season NHL games, played with the Rangers, Red Wings, Penguins and Kings, Ron collected 274 goals and 620 points. On six occasions, he bettered the 20-goal mark, with a career season in 1981-82 when ne notched 40 goals. In 2009, Ron partnered with Barbara Underhill on the popular TV show, Battle of the Blades.
